Green Mountain Adventures Kids Camps 2009

Now in our 11th season, GMA offers a wide variety of carefully designed, challenging, safe, and supportive day and overnight adventure programs for young people between 9 and 15 years of age.

Participants will engage in multi-activity Wilderness Adventures, including kayaking, fly fishing, mountain biking, geocaching, climbing, and adventure racing. All of our camps provide imaginative and unforgettable journeys into the backcountry in some of the most beautiful wilderness areas in and around the Green Mountains. Come joins us as we spend the entire summer outdoors.

Student to guide ratio is 5:1

Kids Camps Photos

Trout School

Enjoy the rush of landing your first native brook trout! Spend two days in late June learning how to fly fish as our guides walk you through the equipment, knots, entomology, fly tying and casting techniques necessary to master the Addison County waterways.

Camp 1: June 22nd – 23rd (Co-ed, Ages 11-15)
Cost: $160
(Fly rod, reel and terminal tackle provided)


Wilderness Challenge

5 Days of exciting adventure. Geocache (use GPS) to locate hidden treasures in and around the Green Mountains. Tour swimming holes and tube down the rivers of Addison County. Spend a day kayaking on Lake Champlain and rock climbing the Lake Dunmore Cliffs. Pack your energy bars and put on your helmet as we bike through some of the area’s best single track.

Camp 2: June 29th – July 3rd(Co-ed, Ages 9-12)
Camp 3: July 6th – 10th (Co-ed, Ages 12-15)
Camp 8: August 17th – 21st (Co-ed Ages 9-12) Cost $425

Addison Eco challenge

Back by popular demand! This camp will include biking, hiking, paddling, orienteering, and team building. Learn basic map and compass skills and adventure race strategies. Campers will “race” between checkpoints and be encouraged to work as a team to complete their mission. The eco challenge will be a workout for the mind as well as the body.

Camp 4: July 13th – 17th (Co-ed, Ages 11-15)
Cost $425

Rock & River (includes 1 Overnight)

Explore underground limestone caves by headlamp, set up a Tyrolean traverse over a mountain stream, spend a day kayaking on Lake Champlain, tube down the rivers of Addison County and hike to the top of one of Vermont’s 4000 foot peaks. We’ll spend one night in the Green Mountains camping under the stars where you will learn Leave No Trace camping skills.

Camp 5: July 20th - 24th (Co-ed, Ages 12-15)
Camp 6: August 3rd - 7th (Co-ed, Ages 9-12)

Ladies First (Girls Only)

Girls Rule! Join us as we trek to the top of the highest peaks in the Adirondacks and Green Mountains. Next it’s into the water as we tube down beautiful mountain streams where we’ll stop for a break at one of the many great swimming holes for a refreshing dip. Test your skills as we rock climb on the cliffs above Lake Dunmore. Locate hidden treasures in and around the Green Mountains using GPS. We’ll end this camp with a day of paddling on one of our areas most scenic lakes.

Camp 7: August 10th – 14th (Ages 10-15)
Cost $425


For all camps, a $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration.
All day camps run from 9:00am — 4:00pm.
