We have been spending time on the New Haven around Bristol. Exploring areas in between access points. I have had some good success with clients in this area. Getting on the water early seems to be the key. Allowing ourselves to fish the water when it is still in the low 60's. Because of low and clear situations we have been using some flourocarbon, and on back to back days, one with flouro and one without, the proof was in the production. It the current conditions and the fall lows, it is well worth the additional money. Give it a try, I think you will agree. If you have frequented this area recently you will have noticed the abundance of golden stonefly casings along the riverbanks and mid-river rocks. Try some big stimulators with droppers. I have had most of my luck on Disco Midge Larva #18 & #20 and baetis emergers, the smaller the better. Light tippets and leaders and rods. Stay high in the watershed, watch the temps, and have fun wet wading.
