Since the rocks have been pulled out of the new bridge site the backed up water has flushed through and the Otter has been restored to it's winter low flow. The last time checked it was flowing at 787 c.f.s. down from a whopping 2000 plus. A recent trip to the falls in downtown Middlebury rendered a nice snag of a large tree branch. It was quite a fight. The bonus was the aquatic hitchhikers that were clinging to the branch. A few caddis larva and some small brown stoneflies.(#14) If you want to motivate a trut in winter with a nymph on a dead drift your gonna have to hit him in the nose. Closely examine the ideal "winter feeding lies".
